Jasper was almost 4 feet long at a year. They can grow FAST. But he didnt hibernate either. If they hibernate they will grow slower theoretically. We found ourselved building a new cage 6 months before we thought we would have to LOL.

Hi, I dont think it matters where you get it (for landscaping). They chop up trees willy nilly with all sorts of stuff getting mixed in. Im sure the standards for mulch are not high which makes it cheaper than the pet store stuff.

Yikes, I have heard about the flinging of the mouse parts which is why I feed Jasper in the cage out of his dish. If he wants to get mouse parts on the interior of the cage thats fine. I dont think I could stomach cleaning mouse bits off the living room carpet and ceiling. LOL!
