oh, and with substrate, i want to go with a foot minimum all over, and possibly getting a 2 foot tall plastic storage tote with a hole in the top filled with dirt to allow it to burrow nicely.
hey guys! im planning on getting a columbian soon! (by soon i mean next spring or summer XD) but before i do so i have a few questions first.
i know that most people keep them at around 105-110 basking, but what about 120-130? (obviously with the options to bask at different temps, but still...
i dont have a tegu at the moment, but the one i had (who now lives with one of my friends) would half tripod, before lunging at the food. their back halves are all muscle/engine, and their front halves are all power and muscle.
(my savannah tripods all the time, but yeah, hes a monitor lol.)
thats actually one of the ones who i thought was fat lol.
hes pretty skinny right now, hes about a foot ish from snout to vent and like 26 inches total too.

In additrion, not really important, my savannah monitor also got out for 3 days. He pushed up on 2pieces of 8x4...
Can someone help me with the ins and outs with these guys? Mines only eating when I'm not there(I'm OCD and need to watch them eat or I flip.) also do they brumate or whatever? I know he's a columbian btw. Also I've got a savannah monitor and tons of other reptiles, this is just my first...

This is a link to a site that describes it way better.
The way I said is for my lizards, not my frogs. Though I could.
Also my rain chamber is not a separate tank so much as like waterfall type thing to put in a tank.
Has anyone here used a rain chamber for their tegu? I don't have a tegu as of yet, but I have used a rain chamber for my savannah monitor, water dragon, mountain horned dragon, and green basilisk.
If you don't know what it is:
Super simple to make. Used to keep up humidity. Also can be...
What's your pet shop called beastly? And is there a website? I love going to or just checking out websites about the smaller per shops that actually care for their animals instead of the price of them.
