I'm building a wooden cage right now and was wondering what wood be the best way to keep it from rotting and wouldn't be terribly hard to setup? THANKS!

Drylock...

I know it is safe to seal fish tanks with... so I can't see it being a problem with reptiles...

I know someone who painted plywood with it enough to hold water... I/he wouldn't trust it long term... but it can seal a wooden box water tight...

At the paint store they'll try to tell you that they cannot add dye to it, but make them read the sheets on it... no more than 2 oz of their basic additives... no fancy colors...

thanks, angelrose! Toby_H, Drylock sounds good. Any other basic things? I heard but tarp below the substrate helps, but wouldn't that get torn up by the tegu anyway?

I used vinyl flooring my wife found on sale for $3 a foot! Try to find something at Lowe's or Home Depot that been discontinued and they want to sell it out. Sealed the seams with silicone.

You can use clear coat polyurethane, but the best and strongest product is a two part epoxy designed for coating garage floors. It comes in kits and is available at home depot. It is tough as heck, and scratch resistant.

And expensive, but worth the piece of mind knowing it's virtually bullet proof.
