Why not bananas as a staple?

This is the reason why bananas should only be a seldom snack. All though bananas do have a lot of bunch of great things in them; they also have a very poor quality as well. Look at the chart below.

The proper ratio of calcium to phosphorus is 2 to 1:2. Or 2 parts calcium to 1 part phosphorus. When the ratio of phosphorus is higher than the calcium it restricts the absorption of the calcium, thus opening the door to let MBD in and affect your tegu.

When there is an imbalance of calcium in the diet, bones become weak and spongy. The affected bones will also enlarge, and have irregular outlines in bumps and swellings. These bones will deform easily and may also fracture easily. As the calcium levels in the blood drop muscle tremors, and or asthenia occur. When the calcium level becomes critically low death from cardiac failure may occur. So just something to think about if you feed a bunch of bananas.

thats crazy

I agree, but also bananas are very high in Potassium, K (mg 358 45 1.911). Overdoses of Potassium have been know to cause cardiac failure. Thus adding to the reason for the strong advice I am giving about not feeding bananas.

This is good to know. I'm so glad there's a site here to warn me about these kinda things.

Are grapes ok?
