When your tegu gets bitten

I thought I had whomped the mouse hard enough. My tegu ( An adult male, he loves mice, does not like rats) I put the mouse on my tongs. Just the way he likes to eat them. And he went to explore a bit by tongue flicking as they do, and the mouse came around and bit his tongue. Tongue has been fine. Weird question can the tongue shed a bit when this heals. Just found what looks like a shed piece from one fork of his tongue! Tongue looks totally normal, he is acting normal as well. So just curious?

Also the piece I found was hanging from his mouth when I found it.
