MuffDaddy2, Kaffir2, and DancesWithSavs are absolute monsters. The worst kind of scum. They have horrible ways of dealing with their animals. Muffdaddy keeps 3 adult savannah monitors in a 75 gallon cage. APPALLING! How he justifies that I have no idea. Dances with savs uses torture tactics with his monitors to "punish" them for bad behavior. This includes holding them under water if they misbehave.
In this video, MuffDaddy disses my good friend Scott, who is incredibly knowledgeable and has been working with reptiles for decades http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWuFdh9I ... re=related.
I love how he says that Komodo dragons are the closest relatives to dinosaurs. Uh, isn't it birds dude? I love how he just says whatever he wants we a sense of authority. What a fool.

Just in case you wanted to hear more BS, here ya go!

Yes, that's a milk snake, ball pythons, bearded dragon, and savannah monitor all together! AND LOOK AT THE BATH TUB!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! IDIOTS!!!! For the record, savannahs don't bathe in the wild. That's why they inflate or try to climb on top of each other. (Banging head on desk, banging head on desk)
It's important to realize that these animals are mostly tame because of bad care, if you gave me one of these animals and let me set them up properly with a big cage, proper diet, and hot lights, in a few weeks, you'd have a vibrant animal that wouldn't just lie on your shoulder. A healthy monitor is inquisitive and constantly mobile. If they just lie in your lap, something's seriously wrong.
Here's a video of someone who keeps their savannah in a dog kennel and feeds them dog food http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPY2xQ3D ... re=related These are not dogs, they should not be treated as such. Dog food will lead to liver failure and the cage that savannah is in holds no humidity. In all likelihood he will not live past his fifth birthday, when he is capable of reaching 15 or more.
Here's a video of Kaffir2 letting a little girl next to an unsupervised Savannah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1RopAdo ... re=related. Ask my friend Roger about the "tame" 3 foot black throat that latched on to and broke his thumb. These animals have strong jaws made for crushing big land snails. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THEM! Otherwise you're asking to get hurt. I have a scar on my hand from a tiny baby peach throat. I wasn't on my game, and I got what I deserved. It was one of the most painful experiences I can recall.
Oh, you thought that was bad, look at this!

Take a look at this video. The savannah obviously has skin issues from bad husbandry and just lies there looking almost dead.

Now compare: Here's an example of an argus monitor displaying a defensive pose. It may not be the cuddly lizard you wanted, but healthy monitors are naturally wary of humans. For a keeper, this is a good thing.

Here's another feeding vid from Shay. Let's see Kaffir's kids feed this guy food out of their hands. LOL!

I really could go on forever, but I had to make my point. The sad fact, is that these dirt bags have a huge cult following on youtube. I love monitors and it's disgusting to seem them demeaned in this manor. Be careful, there is so much bad information out there. These guys don't care about what the animal needs, they just want to make things easier for themselves.
Remember, a savannah monitor may only cost you 25-50 bucks, but the cage will cost upwards of 500 if you set it up properly. Please, reconsider your future large monitor purchase. If you want a good starter, try ackies monitors. They are all captive bred, so you don't have to destroy natural populations, they stay small, and they are the most tolerant monitor when it comes to handling.
And, when you're looking on Kingsnake, remember that looks can be deceiving.
Here's my "tame" roughneck:
Just kidding, seconds ago he was whipping and defecating. I just caught him at the right moment.
Well, that's today's rant.
Thanks for stopping by!
