I just finished making up a fresh batch of tegu food. A little over a lb of ground turkey, 1/4 calf liver, 1/3 kidney (for variety) tblspoon and 1/2 of codliver oil all into the food processor.

Here are the pics: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://picasaweb.google.com/pyxicephalus/August152009?authkey=Gv1sRgCIvuxMvuoMKPswE#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://picasaweb.google.com/pyxicephalu ... vuoMKPswE#</a><!-- m -->

Made up 2-3 day's worth and placed in snack bags, yield was 21 bags. All goes in a gallon bag and in the freezer.

Makes life very easy.

What goes in your mix? Do you vary your mix?
How many tegus do you own and how large are they? How often do they eat?

I feed mine just about every day. There have been a few days when Beauregard bedded down and decided sleeping in that day was better than eating, lol.

I've had my one extreme giant since June 30, 2009. He is 18" nose to tail and just went through his third shed with me. His parents are Ice and Hail.

Not certain, but I don't believe beef liver and chicken liver are equal nutrionally. Does anyone know the pluses and minuses of chicken liver vs beef liver?

Thats a good question, Ive always used chicken liver and have started my gu on it also and he loves it., I never knew which would be healthier but I was assuming chicken being better??
Id be interested in this answer also

I'm pretty certain beef or even calf liver should win out nutritionally over chicken liver. I believe I have heard Bobby comment on this subject before as well.

Still, main staple plus calcium, proper lighting, plus whole animals now and again is the real ticket.

Would love to hear the official word straight from the horse's mouth, but the chicken liver looks a little more healthy.

You may get better acceptance if you mix it, maybe not. I'm hearing that some of the tegus on here can be a little picky, mine doesn't care much at all for eggs.
