ok not "Tame" but accustomed to and not generally threatened by humans.
Colombian tegus are often regarded as the worst tegu species to keep and I have even seen it written as "undesirable".
I find this to be a different case if you just let them be what they are and not have any pre-conceived ideas on what you're going to get out of the animal.

This is true that colombians tegus arent as passive as argentine tegus and dont handle being restrained well. I have found them to be much more active, agile and high strung than their argentine counterparts. Nonetheless they can become accustomed to humans and not so aggressive (actually defensive, because sometimes the best defense is a good offense :D ).

Colombian tegus have many more predators than argentine tegus at all stages of life. This is the reason they are wired to be nervous, flighty and high strung. However, with some patience and the right approch definate progress can be made.

here's a couple of examples

Nice videos. I view Colombians with more of a monitor mentality. They can interact with you, but not like Argentines. Still great animals.

I think of Colombians as "tolerant" Gu's.

The differance between the black and whites, and the goldens is just a colour morph, yeah? As long as they are both columbians? I'm a little disheartened with my golden lately as our relationship seems to be a little down lately.. Do reptiles tend to get more irrated when in the middle of a shed? I know I get itchy as nothing else when I have dead skin stuck to me, is it the same for these little guys?

I think that if they were captive bred they could become a lot like the args.

I can't see the vids, but I'm sure they are great!

I had 2 Columbians in the late '70's. Both were WC juvies when I got them. Both turned out to be sweethearts. A little more jumpy than an Arg, but definately not aggro. My second one would follow me from room to room. Sometimes she was a little "moody".... I just figured it was a "Girl Thing". :-D
Like Mike said, a little more like a varanid, a savannah maybe.
