Whats the best way to get rid of ants in an outdoor enclosure.

You can use ant bait, but not inside the enclosure, you can use it around the outside. However, I have ants here in Florida and they do not seem to bother the tegus at all, both tegus and fire ants come from South America and I think tegus adapted to ants. I have never seen the ants attacking the tegus and doubt they could bite through the tough beaded skin.

They get into the food very very quickly. They don't seem to eat the food once the ants get into it.

Well my tegus eat as soon as they are fed; they usually are waiting to eat. I remove excess food after about 30 minutes, they get their fill by then, this keeps flies and ants at bay. However, you can try the ant bait as stated before.
