how long for new babay in feedbox

how long should i keep my new tegu in his feedbox, the man at shop was feeding him in his cage, he's three months old, i dont want to be stressing him by leaving him in his feedbox too long if he doesn't want to eat yet?????
also how long is it safe for him not to be eating, he is a baby
