Getting back into Tegus...

Well 7 years ago i had an adult black & white tegu and he was as tame as they come. I worked at a pet store at the time and took him to work with me ocassionally. He would sit on the counter all day and enjoy the attention from all the customers; while I enjoyed feeding him for free as people wanted to see him eat. Well I decided to sell him and have regretted it since so its come time to get another. I also had a red at the time but unfortunately I sold him also as I was changing jobs and didnt think that I had the time. Now I am trying to decide Chaco, Blue, or Red. While starting with a hatchling is fun as I did with my black and white Tegu Terra does have some 2012 and 2011 Chaco's available currently that I have considered. However I have seen some of their reds and they are stunning. I have never had a blue but have friends that had quite a few but sold them when they had their first child and switched their focus to blood pythons thinking they would be safer for the kids.
While I just wanted to introduce myself as I will be getting another tegu I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is on the different tegus. I guess I am just having a hard time actually picking which one I should get. While I may end up getting another one down the road I just keep changing my mind on which to get. If I can find any pictures of my old tegu I will post them.

Welcome to the forum. Everyone's opinion will vary according to their own personal favorites. I like really high white tegus, and I favor the B/W's, so that would be my suggestion. :)

My Chaco will be arriving next week from TeguTerra so obviously that's my suggestion.

Welcome to the forum!

I've personally always had a soft spot for Reds. Strangely enough I don't have any reds at the moment. I just find their coloration gorgeous. My bias towards them probably stems from Agama International's reds. Just gorgeous animals.

I have never had a blue but have friends that had quite a few but sold them when they had their first child and switched their focus to blood pythons thinking they would be safer for the kids.

Sorry I just laughed at this a bit. No offense intended, but I find that notion somewhat humorous, haha.

Awesome video! That's the kind of red I would want. I like the black and whites with a lot of white, but the super red male in the video is jaw dropping. I still have some time to make up my mind as I am waiting till the end of August after a I get back from a trip.
