Since Im new to natural behavior for breeding I have a questions. My new male is constantly biting on the tails of the women and destroying them. ripping scales off - no blood but the tails look terrible now. Is this common when trying to breed? should I be stopping this behavior? should I be worried about the tail being injuried?

Tegu breeding can be brutal. Tail biting is normal and you will see scars from it. Over fiesty males have been known to take off tails and limbs on females so its always good to give the ladies a brake if possible.
