Dastardly Delivery Delay

I payed a seller 200 dollars USD (this includes shipping) for an Argentine Black and White tegu, and things keep on preventing him from selling it. He is a nice guy; I know he is not going to rip me off, as I have all of his information (phone numbers, email, paypal accouunt) but I am still frustrated that my tegu hasn't been sent yet! Just a few hours ago, I finally got a calll from him saying that he couldn't ship it out yesterday, because as he recently finished moving into a new house, his life has been very hectic. Last week, he told me he wouldn't ship it out becaus ethe temperatures that the tegu would encounter during shipping might harm or kill her. On top of that, he didn't (until today) realize that his license for shipping reptiles has expired, and he had to send in for another one. He said that he 2'nd-dayed his payment, and is waiting on his license. He said that it could be here anywhere withing the next few days, to the end of next week! Once again, I shall play the waiting game...wonder how long I will last...

I am curious how many people have had similar frustrations and can relate with me.....I'M GOING MAD, I TELL YOU! I WANT MY TEGUUU!!!!!
Anyway, this is now officially a ranting thread with anyone one who can relate to my situation...in other words, anyone who has (or is) waited/waiting for a tegu that took waaayy too long to ship, had complications during shipping, or anything else related to having problems in buying and having a reptile sent to you!

I can relate. It once took me three weeks to get an adult female argus monitor from Washington State. The guy was really sketchy. He told me there was no live guarantee a week after I bought it from him. I payed $450 and I was getting really worried. Luckily she showed up ok.

The best advice I can give you is to maintain a friendly relationship with this guy and hope for the best. Angering someone who has your cash is not a good idea. He has all the power in this situation. You could always try to be the squeaky wheel in the works. Send him a "friendly reminder" every day or every other day until he gets sick of hearing from you and sends the tegu out. That's worked for me. People who don't feel like chit chatting do their best to get rid of you.

I don't think it's fair that i give his name out, as he hasn't given me any reason to.
I didn't mean to imply anything negative about him, really; my point was simpy that I am frustrated that Murphy's Law seems to be against me right now.

My mother is monitoring the situation with me, and she thinks it's best just to chill.

Nothing really seems sketchy, I mean, he did mention originally that he had just finished moving, and that was before he told me that he found out that he hadn't renewed his shipping license, so it doesn't seem like he was just making up bogus excuses.
He did also give me a live arrival guarantee just as long as he ships it to his specifications, and a guarantee for the first week following that.

lol, what a coincidence! He just called me!
He is still waiting on the permit, and will call the department's offices tomorrow and try to find out when his permit will be renewed.
He is in the process of moving again....I found out he was hit pretty hard by the recent hurricanes. He suffered huge damages (I don't think it is my business to post the actual numbers, even though he did tell me.) He was reimbursed for virtually none of the damages, especially the damages involving the reptile enclosures, etc...

Luckily, she is still in brumation, so that buys me a few extra weeks to get the money to have a large enclosure for her constructed. The one that I currently have for her will only last us about a month...
