Definately a black nose, yep they are still just normal b/w's so their care is still the same, i agree with sarefina looks like a female, as far as size its hard to say did he hibernate, i had a black nose female that would have hit 50" had she not droped some of her tail but she didnt hibernate nor brumate

yea that crossed my mind as well as to if he was a she. When i first got him he hibernated but not this season. I kept all temps the same and let room tempature do the rest

So she is an '09 tegu, if so you should probably see some growth this summer

the only thing i have found with my black nose that diff with the other two tegus is that she has a harder time shedding, and she is more of a picky eater then the rest! they grow and act the same as the other.. With her being female she is alot more relaxed

I noticed that too about the shedding when nero got to her adult size but as a hatchling i had no problems, as far as food she was a beast lol only food she wouldnt take was fruits an veggies but everything else got demolished

yea shedding has never been a problem except the tail at the base other than that he sheds like a snake pretty much haha and as far as eating he will eat fruits but only if there mixed in plus i dont buy fruits and veggies as much as i use too cause i dont have an iguana or a beardie any more just the tegu and the Sav but thanks for your help in comfirming it at least

yea he is tame but is very testy when you pick him up or go into the enclosure. He will huff and puff and when i pick him up he thrashs alot but once i put him on my chest he calms down, but he needs to realize hes not a hatchling any more and needs to stop climbimg on top of my head haha

A black nose is a normal, it is just a color phase, nothing more. As for size, 3ft is not bad for a tegu that is not one year old yet. I do not think a tegu is fully mature until they reach five years old.

Not to disagree with Bobby, but I believe this Tegu is coming up on 2 yrs of age. From the OP it seems it was a 2009 hatchling. 3' is still not a bad size, he will grow.

Correct, the poster said Feb, that makes it not quite two years old.
