Hey guys! We’ve got a custom enclosure made out of a modified 55 gallon tipped on its side. The CHE slides in and out as the third wall, and the temp gradient runs from 100 right by the CHE to 75 at the other end. UVB light is right above the CHE so the warmest spot is also the UVB spot. The CHE is connected to a wooden board with mesh covering a circular opening to allow heat through but not Miss Tegu. Problem is, even with the CHE and a lamp I jerry-rigged to peep in the side, the basking spot stays at 101-103, according to my temp gun. To my knowledge the temp gun measures surface, not ambient so my guess is it’s hanging out around 95-98?
Any thoughts on how to boost the temp in that spot? As you can see, lil Miss likes to nap right by the CHE. I can attach some pictures of the enclosure.
