i searched the forums for an hour and still have questions. i have a small pair of red tegus that are this years' hatchlings and they are not hibernating yet. i'm looking to breed theses guys so i want them to hibernate as soon as possible. now how can i accomplish this? do i need to put light on 10 hour timers immediately? do i need to limit food? or should i just keep feeding them and see what they do on thee own? i have them in a 30 breeder size tank 102 degree basking spo and 70 degree cool side. can tegus miss a hibernation one year and do it the next year? if they won't hibernate this season do i have a shot next season? has anyone bread without hibernation? thanks

You can start cutting your lights back every two weeks. Go from 12 on to 10, to 8, to 6 hours in a six-week period. They will most often times try to start hibernating on their own with out changes in lighting.

No problem, glad to help.

As for feeding, they will stop eating on their own when they get ready.
