Hi Guys!
My tegu Vegas is recovering nicely now that I have incorporated whole prey food into his diet. (RECAP - he was calcium/nutrient deficient & started to exhibit mild tremors & lethargy. The vet cleared him of MBD, but w/out you guys help & insight he would have surely gone down that...
Good luck to all the entrants - I just have to say that raising ONE tegu is plenty enough for me - not that I dont want to add more to my family but I want to be a seasoned parent before venturing into acquiring another...
But a side note/possible requirement should also be that the winner have...
Thanks guys - this makes so much sense that it makes me feel kind of dumb that I didnt realize it on my own.
We have disabled the underground heating in his inside tank - so room temps and Mega Ray lamp is all the heat he gets until winter time.
The outside tank - is long enough where he...
We live in the midwest - Chicago- so temps are finally at a point where I can leave my guy outside during the better part of the day.
His "outside" enclosure is simply an extra large/long rubbermaid tote with the top taken off - newspaper bedding, water dish and a hide.
My guy needs all the...

My plan was to incorporate...

Hi Guys
I have a juve tegu - eating well, jowls are starting to develop, fat tail and getting girthy. I'm a little concerned about his front limbs - they are almost always tucked by his side or underneath him when he basks. Is this normal?
I have a tile floor so when I bring him out for play...
I've just ingested the entire Hibernation Forum & still need a little help - my Tegu is avoiding food now and sleeping more and more. In the last 2 weeks he has gone from gobbling down food to ignoring it.
Should I reduce his light times over the next few days - like 8 hours for 3 days then 6...
sorry my original pic was too big...here is the resized image - there are spaces for 3 domes lights at the top where you see the decorative wood finish at the top. The area with the cypress muclh is where he basks and burrows - the far end with the water dish is his cool side.
]Thank Heavens for all you guys - I am learning lots and strive to be a great tegu mom. My question concerns which brand of light to use for basking and UVB? I have read past answers & want to make sure my choices are suitable for my tegu.
I have a juve - eating well, getting acclimated to...
