Last Thursday, in preparation of returning home for winter break, I removed some of the decorations from my tegu's cage so he won't get crushed by then while being transported home. Someone mentioned to me that heavy rocks in the enclosure can crush lizards, and that had me in a bit of a panic...
I encountered this little ameiva/whiptail teiid at my local petstore about 6 months ago.
Two weeks ago I visited again over break and he was still there for $40. I'm considering buying him when I return home again in a week. Can any of you identify what species this little guy may be?

A croc skink like that was actually my first reptile (with hindsight not the best first reptile). Her name was "Gustave". I named her that before I found out she was female (she laid infertile eggs).

About a month later and I finally have a somewhat worthy update. Taco has not eaten in two weeks... and has not come out in one week. I guess now he is finally in full hibernation (even with the heat on). I'm happy that things seem to be going normal, but now I miss him. It's not even winter yet...
