i have a question about my tegu, Bowser's, tail. I got him 3 weeks ago and he looked great. He still looks great and acts great but the tip of his tail looks weird and has looked that way for a couple of days. At first I thought there was some shedding going on but realized later on that was not the case. I will attach a pic. Please let me know what is going on with his tail if u have any idea.

Looks like regeneration of a broken tip. The younger the tegu, the better at regeneration they are.

He must have lost the tip of his tail at some point without you being aware of it. It seemed to grow back well, but it will always look a bit different than the rest of the tail. Lizards that regenerate their tails do so by replacing lost bone with cartilage.

Thanks guys. I thougt that might be the case. Glad that's what it was and not some kind of infection or disease or something.
