I don't think you will hurt your tegu but you won't be his best friend for it, that's for sure.. I love sleeping and hate people who wake me up :-D . I would think he'd just go right back into hibernation in a day or two anyway. These tegus tend to do their own thing and continually pulling one out of hibernation that's intent on sleeping might cause undue stress.
