My Argentine Red tegu is tank aggressive and really doesn't like to be held he is about 1 to 1 1/2 years old I bought him from a reptile place that I know the owner and he got him from a women that didn't really take care of him. What should I do

Most tegus, every very friendly ones, generally don't like being held... they much prefer sitting beside you/trying to go under you. Can you get him out of the cage so that he can walk around in a safe room and get used to being near you?
