Hello everyone!

I just received a new Colombian Tegu yesterday and he is beautiful. But I couldn't get him to eat yesterday and he only came out for about 2 hours from his burrow today. I have been wondering if I should pull him out and have him try to eat, or just leave some food in his enclosure for a week or so until he become familiar with his new space. Also, any kind of taming "tips and tricks" you guys may have while be greatly encouraged. I have read all about the t-shirt and hand taming in water, but knowledge is power!

Thanks guys! :)

Give it time and dont force hold him. Put some meat on a dish near his hole for a few hours see if he takes it, or put a mice in there. Those things are so tiny they dont really have a chance against any tegu. Perhaps chasing that around will be more incentive for him to come out lol.

He came out for about a half hour when I got home from work. Luckily I had just walked in the door to catch him and threw some meat and eggs in and he chowed down. I had my wife throw food in when she woke up this morning near the hole and she said he didnt even budge. So I'm assuming this is a very shy little guy. maybe I'll throw a shirt in for him.

Thanks!
