Hello all,

My name's Tom and im from the UK. I used to be a reptile keeper from the age of 14 to 24, but was more snake biased in my interests. Due to a career change i had to move on all of my scale babies sadly, but now I'm in a position to one again commit.

Rather than having a bunch of placid snakes i thought I'd go for one critter that i could actually bond with, and from brief experience with hatchlings (i was a little bit obsessed with how cute they were both behaviourally and just as they are.) and from what ive read, they seem like proper little companions.

I checked out the local market and came across a 3 year old blue lad that had come from a collector who had to get rid of his Tegus due to health issues, he was highly socialised and was pretty much free roam.... and now stuck in a little tank at floor level at the mercy of the people that use petshops as zoos and don't control their viv banging children.

I decided to remove him from his current situation, so now I'm building him an enclosure as fast as free time allows. Hopefully ill be ready for him by tomorrow.

I thought I'd join this community so i can glean information, tips and inspiration from you more experienced owners.

Im pretty excited about the whole thing.... hence the rambling. Sorry about that. :p

Change does not come easily to tegus. Often they're OK for a day or so until they realize that they're not home anymore. Then, they have to adjust to new surroundings and routine.
