Dog harness

I've been looking for a harness for when I get back into hiking with my dog. What is a good company yall use that can stand some ruggid terrain/water and all that good stuff. He is a medium sized dog (pitbull) but I would like to keep him on a leash just to keep him out of trouble (ie running into rattlesnakes) when we go out hiking certain places. He's the friendliest dog but sometimes his nose gets him into trouble lol. Thanks.

Why a harness? And I think a good leash would be something like this so you can still have use of your hands.

This looked good though, harness wise.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, hes great walkin in the city, but its a whole nother story when I am out in the middle of nowhere. I use to just let him run, he would never go far and always stuck with me, but my buddy just had a dog get bit by a rattlesnake and with Beau I can see that happening. Also, If I go an area that he cant get up or somethin, harness is easy to help him up with. Also, if under any circumstance I needed to hold on to him, he knows how to get out of a collar lol.

Harness all the way! I would say especially for a large dog but have to say especially for all active dogs. Think about it, what would you be more comfortable wearing, just a collar? I thought so, a harness affords much greater comfort even for the one not wearing it.
Thanks

I forgot to mention, Sporting stores like the one that rimes with Kabbella's or a sportsmans "warehouse" type store. In the neighborhood of Idaho we have farm stores that have great things as this for our dogs and are a lot less expensive, many times for the very same thing.

Thanks
