Yes, it can happen. It is called "mock breeding" and is usually just a display of dominance from one male to another. Fot the most part it is nothing to be alarmed about.
Honestly, I would assume that males couldn't even LIVE together... I thought tegus were more territorial than that. It's good to know, though, that they can live together without killing each other.
Males will fight if kept in very large enclosures, they will sometimes become territorial, but I never have any problems at all with my males fighting.

That seems funny to me that males are more likely to fight in larger enclosures than in smaller ones. It makes sense because they will each choose an area to become their territory, but then wouldn't they just stay out of each other's way?
