I agree with Walter1. I feed my Tegu from the same deep bowl, in the exact same place in the enclosure, every time. He's healthy, friendly and is thriving.
I have a year old Argentine B&W Tegu, 23" long, very healthy, feeding every 4 days or so.
I am planning a vacation which will take me away from home for 14 days.
If I leave lots of fresh water for him (he has never pooped in his water container), and the Temp/Humidity is maintained with timers...
I did build a platform out of driftwood, and the top is about six inches below the basking light, 150 watts, and a 10.0 UVL.
He climbs up there occasionally, and I can only assume that if he needed more heat, he would spend more time up there.
He is spending more time moving around than he did...
I bought ground turkey, raw chicken, etc., but since they come out of the fridge, do I let the food warm to room temp or soak in hot water? I know not to cook it. Whats the best and safest thing to do?
I just held him against me, as gently as possible until he settled down......a minute or two. I keep stroking him on the head and back, and talking to him. He calms down fairly quickly, and then I just support him while I continue to stroke him. 5-10 minutes and he closes his eyes and falls...

I just bought my first Tegu this past week, and am adjusting to HIS adjustment. He's an Argentine B&W, 24" long and fairly stocky. In a 200 gallon aquarium, 72x24x31, heat bulb, UVL, hides to go under, cypress substrate, etc.
