Chevy my extreme looks pretty close to rayne's size. He can pack away so much food he will eat for 10 minutes I have no idea where he puts it all. I am dreading hibernation.

Hibernation!!! No! No!! NOOOOOOO!!! I need more time. Just more time. I need to give the little man some time to hit a couple of growth spurts!!! I am now getting a little geeked to see what happens when my big B&W girl (2-year beefy 40 inches), wakes up next to her Blue 'prince' in the spring (2-year very svelte 30 inches). Do I get some Black and Blue Bruiser babies??? Do I??? It has been so much fun the last week watching these two. I hope the romance continues when it counts. But he really needs to beef up. I have a huge shipment of food arriving this weekend... I will do my part, I hope he does his.
Grow Grow Grow Grow Grow Grow... etc.

I was just thinking the same thing, I have 3 Tegus. Bob-11 pounds, Yoshi- 9 pounds and Tiny 8.8 pounds. My boy Bob is 42 inches. After their bath today I went to feed them and Bob are the entire plate of food I made for the 3 of them even before the others decided to see what was for lunch.

I'm with you on that, I'm actually looking forward to hibernation lol. I've been feeding tegus daily for the last year.

CrankbaitJedi- Do you use a multivitamin? My 09's were super small when I got them and besides pushing a ton of food I used one and it really seemed to beef them up a lot. They went through massive growth spurts and put on a huge amount of weight. I started with every day for a week or two and cut back to a couple time a week after they looked "healthy" again. If you do use one be careful on how much and how often, they have phosphorus which can be bad in higher dosages.

Its dependant on the individual tegu, last year they went down in mid september, im hoping for august this year lol, like bobby's, i havnt used any vitamins, i been trying to get away from calcium by feeding chicken necks and wings then getting the out in the natural sun for the best uvb, i think its working well, we will be going to the vet in a few weeks for a yearly checkup before hibernation

Feeding him mice and bringing the heat! I have a colony of dubias and will be getting some chicks mixed in once he decides not to disembowel everything first. I have a truckload of weanlings coming in this weekend to see if I can 'train' him to swallow something whole. We will see.

I do have a vitamin but when feeding mice, I usually don't bother. I am just being silly with all this anyway. I am being selfish in wanting him to grow up so fast. I just figure if he is going to be a 24/7 hornball... I should get hatchlings out of the deal. Plus it just looks funny when he is trying soooo hard.

I am not sure what his tendencies are with much. The guy I am trying to beef up is the new Blue I have had for about a week.
I would like to get the recipe... no harm no foul in gathering info. I would appreciate it! Thanks!!!

lol Ill inbox it to you

I get about 5lbs of ground turkey, 3 lbs of beef liver, 2-3lbs chicken gizzards/heart, 4lbs beef kidneys, 3lbs beef heart, 2lbs chicken breast, 3-4lbs chicken necks, 2-3lbs chicken wings, 2lbs telapia and 6 boiled eggs, i either smash up the wings and necks with a hammer or use a food processor(if stong enough) everything else is chopped/smashed/grounded up and mixed with the ground turkey and then the necks and wings are added, i also mmix in fruit like strawberries, mango, papaya and blueberries, and veggies like squash and greens, seperate it into 2day feeding bags usually last a month a few days
