What do use for temps and humidity?

So I've kinda run into a road block on what I should use for reading the temps and humidity for my tegu's enclosure. A lot of reptile enthusiasts don't recommend the stick on reptile thermometers and hygrometers. I just wanted to know what type/brand of thermometer and/or hygrometer everyone uses in their tegu enclosures. Thanks :)

You mean the analogue ones? That looks like a little gauge? Yea I would never use those. They only give a general idea of ambient temperatures.

What you really need is a digital thermometer probe. I'd get one that has a hygrometer built in as well so it reads both at once. That's what I use for my tegu. His is a exo terra. This way you put the probe on the hot spot to read surface temperatures as necessary and it will tell you the exact number right on the little screen the wire is attached too. :] I think I got mine for like $15, but I'd say you're probably looking at around $20-25 which really isn't bad.

I wouldn't use a temperature gun because you will have to keep checking rather than seeing how the temperatures fluctuate through the day and so you can always tell what they are. Plus that won't tell you humidity.

Walmart sells some that work great. I believe the brand is Accurite, they have a probe and show temps for where the probe is and where the unit itself is. They also show humidity. Temp guns are needed to check basking temps, pro exotics has a very good inexpensive one.

I also hear lots of good things about the Acurite brand so I'm definitely going to pick one ip. As for the temp gun, I'm going to get it just in case of emergencies. Thanks for your help guys :)
