Noticed little crawly things running around Xibulbas enclosure today.
Got freaked cause i thought they might be mites, or something.

Nope.

BABY CRICKETS.

How on earth after having crickets in my keeper for almost a year, ive never had babies. And then i put 2 crickets in Xibulbas tank like 4 weeks ago and later took them out when she didnt eat them....
now i have at least a couple dozen baby crickets in there.
Super tiny, dont seem to bother her in the slightest.

Just a heads up, crickets are omnivorous and will eat just about anything. I use to feed live insects in the enclosure until I noticed little nicks missing from the scales on my tegu Dino's tail. Didn't really think much of it until I saw the nymphs chomping on it.

Needless to say, the substrate was changed and I haven't fed live insects in the enclosure since.

if theyre crickets, id try to find the parents. like it was mentioned earlier, crickets can cause harm if they chew on the animal. ive seen bad cases where theyve caused eye infections. hate for that to happen. if theyre springtails, lucky you!

I learned the interesting way how much damage crickets can do. I used to have a big box of crickets to feed my beardie. One day I was trying to get him to eat pinkies, but he wasn't interested. I decided I would try again later, so i set the pinkies in cricket box. When I came back an hour later, the damn crickets had eaten the pinkies. I just found 1 pinky skull.

When was new to the lizard world I had a ordered big box of crickets to save some money. I dumped them all in at once. He feasted like a king. There were lots of crickets left so I just figured I would leave him and he could eat them at his leasure. In the morning I found the crickets gathered in one place. I thought it was odd, upon closer inspection they were on my Tegus head. My Tegu had buried himself in the substrate at night and the crickets had chewed through one scale in the top of his skull and they were drinking his blood. He was fine and I removed all the crickets.

the adults that were in there were taken out after finding that my Gu wouldnt eat them.
I never leave crickets in overnight with my gu, or my beardie.

also, as we may be getting another gu that this one was with at the reptile shop on friday, we will be changing the substrate.

One time crickets ate half an inch of my bearded dragons tail. That bearded dragon was crippled from the start, he was not from a very reliable source. He died soon after.
