Using UGL DRYLOK

Here are some tips for using DRYLOC. You must use 2 thick coats. You do not want to have any pinholes or gaps. One regular gallon of paint covers 300-400 sq. feet. One gallon of DRYLOC covers 75-100 sq. feet. So it should be as least twice as thick as a layer of paint. There should be three hours between coats. It takes at least 24 hours to dry. You can paint over it at this time. I would give it about a week to cure before you put animals in. It can peel off of smooth surfaces.

Good info

I've used Drylok on a number of surfaces. When using it on sheets of plywood I suggest making the first coat quite thin, and making successive coats thicker and thicker. This will decrease the potential for flaking or peeling in the future.

Another good tip... feel free to add paint pigments to it to alter the color. Hardware store employees may (or may not) be hesitant to do so as it will void the warrantee, but 95% of the applications we use it on are not warranteed. My enclosure has a forest green back & side walls with brown supports & shelf. I've very pleased with the outcome.
