Hello all. Just wanted to give you guys a little update on getting my first Gu. In 20 days or less, I will be getting my first tegu which will either be an Argentine Black and White or Red Tegu. I'm too excited and in the next week, I will be buying all of it's supplies. Just to be sure, I want to see if I have down everything I will need.

1. 40 Gallon Breeder or larger enclosure
2. Eco Earth or Cypress Mulch
3. 100 watt Powersun MVB
4. Hides, cage decor
5. Rep-Cal Calcium or Zoo Med Calcium - I've heard the zoo med calcium is better but I've also heard that the rep cal calcium is highly recommended. Can someone clear this up for me?
.6 Light Fixture
.7 Crickets, mealworks, superworms, ground turkey, fruit, and etc.
.8 Digital Thermometer and Hygrometer

Note - The 40 gallon breeder is temporary. I'll be ordering an 8x4x4 for my little one in a month or two for when he gets larger.

hey good luck with your tegu buddy you got mostly everything down on your list but youll need a spray bottle or mister to keep humidity up unless your house is always around 75 to 80 percent humid. Some kind of bin if you plan on feeding him outside the cage. Cod Liver Oil to use as a supplement to his food is also a good idea. Post pics of your little one when he arrives!

Gratz on the new gu!

I have always used the repcal without D3 and I like it a lot. I mix it with the herptivite and dust my feeders that way. Have you set everything up yet, and turned on the lights to make sure the temps are right for your upcoming baby?

Thanks guys. As of right now, I haven't gone out to buy the supplies. I have a few small things to take care of before I start my shopping. But I will be buying everything this upcoming week. I'm gonna make sure I have everything set up and tested at least a week before I go and pick up my gu.
