Tegu Shed Process?

Hi all!
I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about the shed process for a tegu. I tried searching around the forums but only found posts about tegus that were shedding and not the process therein. My reptile experience to-date is mostly snakes and geckos. Snakes will go into blue, clear up and then shed, and my geckos will eat their sheds so that (unless I happen to catch them in the middle of the night) I never really know WHEN they've had a shed.

Right now my lil girl is looking a little cloudy so I can tell she's about to shed. But how long will it take before she begins to shed and will I see the skin in her cage when she has?

I would also like to mention that she gets a good misting morning and night, and per a comment on Esmeralda's thread - more info HERE - I covered the top 3/4's of her cage with plastic wrap to maintain humidity levels. Do most of you guys try and keep high humidity 24/7 or do you let it dry out some during the day?

Anywho, let me know your own experiences with tegu shed and if you have some feedback on the humidity in the enclosure I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

I watch the folds of skin just behind the legs. The "armpits", so to speak. The skin usually separates first in those areas, as there is more movement and humidity. If I see abnormally light colored skin, I start my misting regimen for the shed.

This just means I spray about five times a day during the shed, as opposed to my normal two.

Yeah I was trying to figure out the same as well - I've had an iguana, geckos, beardies, and a few others but none seem to shed like the tegu does.

I used to co-own an iguana (now belongs to an ex) and that lizard seemed like he was perpetually in shed at on some body part or another. Definately different looking than what I've noticed so far with my lil gu.

To those of you wondering the same thing about shedding as me, what have you been keeping your humidity levels at?

Does anyone here use the Monsoon misters?

I was thinking of buying one. But wondering what model is best.

Any suggestions for an automated mister or what model of the exo terra Monsoons work best for a tegu?

OH, and as a side question-

Is ther such a thing as a digital humidity guage? I love my temp gun and wonder if they make something similar for measuring humidity levels.
