It's interesting that no one has responded to this. It implies that wild argentine tegus are more herbivorous than carnivorous (although I'm sure it depends on availability of food) which is the complete opposite of how they're fed in captivity.

I'll be the first then lol, yeah I li,e to give my tegu a well ball ended meal with fruits and meat, but he loves his eggs more than anything lol

Very interesting. They are opportunistic feeders though. And a few different diets have proved well in raising them. Thanks for posting!

The most important thing out of the whole article is where when they said "the food items revealed the species to be a widely-ranging opportunistic omnivorous forager." Even with that there are other factors to consider such as the region the specimens came from, the season and what food sources were available at that time.
