Has anyone used this UV producing heat lamp before? Or does anyone have any opinion on it?

Also, what IS the optimal UVB output/level for a tegu? I haven't really found the answer anywhere I've looked so far..

Thanks in advance! Hope everyone is doing well!

I always use the T-Rex MVB and my lizards are giants and healthy. ONE time I did have one that burnt out for some reason even though it was only 6 months old but other than that no problems.

I don't know the answer to the second question.

I used to use them but last year I bought 3, 1 was DOA and the second died after 3 days. They 're supposed to be the consumer version of the Mega-Ray. Maybe they had a quality control problem. I switched to Zoo-Med Power Suns.

Yeah because of the incredibly low price that I can get them for from R and T Pet Supply, I am now trying the Exo-terra Solar Glo MVB lights. All i can say is that they are about 75% cheaper from him than the Power Suns are but you have to talk with him about EXACT pricing. (randtpetsupply.com)

I have never actually tried the Powersuns though.

Unfiltered sunlight can crank a uv meter up to 200 microwatts per square centimeter, but the generally accepted minimum is 100-150 microwatts per square centimeter to maintain a healthy level of D to D3 absorption. I use solar glo because I have access to a uv meter and mine stays at 150 microwatts per square centimeter consistently for about a year at a time.

I have been using t rex bulbs for the last 6 years and have only had a couple go bad about 6 months ago , the rest have all lasted past expectations.
I also have an uvb meter and check them every couple of weeks after they get to about 6 months old.

I am just going to throw this out there. This did not happen in my experience at all. However, a few of the beardie people over on beardeddragon.org used T-Rex MVBs and they think it caused PKC (photokeratoconjunctivitis). Again, only a few people said this happened to them.
