So I've got Eco earth for sabastian, my columbian. But I'd rather try something else. I've seen a lot about cypress mulch and I have also seen sand/soil mixes used often. What's probably the better choice? And my worry with the Eco earth is when he eats sometimes he gets some of it with his food or when he decides to take a tramp through his water dish then turn back around and drink out of it after he's gotten it dirty :/

Feed him in a separate area or cover the substrate with a paper towel or something before putting his food down. Since eco earth is so small it would have to be dry, he would have to be pretty much dehydrated and or eat quite a bit for it to be an issue. All things that proper husbandry will fix and prevent

I feed him beef liver because I've read that it's a good main food for them and when I feed that I put in on a plate so it doesn't get the dirt stuck all over it when he drags it towards himself. But I'm only worried about it as far as feeding crickets and I've just ordered some Dubia roaches. So you're saying that him intaking a small amount when he grabs the cricket or roach or whatever he's after won't stop him up or hurt him unless he pretty much just starts eating the dirt right..?
