When any of my lizards shed i like to give them daily soaks to help, you can mist your tank and get it nice and humid in there make sure you have decor in to help him shed, like a rock or something. Also try offering fruit.
thats good to hear cause i work 10 to 11 hrs a day and when there is no one around to spray my gus enclosure i get nervouse but any spacific type u suggest ive seen acouple ones like 20 bux think i should go for the pricer one thats like 80 bux ?
Robk on here has some posts of the one I use, I got the idea from him. Use the search function and search humidifier and it should come up. I think they cost about $25.
That model is sold at walmart for $25-29, you could also create a humid hide, when i had my red tegu he had a bit of trouble shedding when i first got him, i took a shoebox, filled it with wet sphragum moss and kept it near the warm side and the humidity inside stayed high, i just heavily misted it down when the moss started to dry up
In mid summer a growing Tegu may grow so fast he is shedding on some part of his body all summer long. But as mentioned a place where more than one layer of dead skin is hanging on is a sign of a problem. The more layers of dead skin the more of a problem.
My solution to humidity has become simply pouring water onto/into the mulch. This may or may not increase the humidity int he air but the damp mulch will certainly moisten the dead skin.
Oils from fish are well known to add oils to the skin that aid in shedding. Many people add Cod Liver Oil to their diet.
Bath tubs and kiddy pools do wonders! Soak daily besides if it is a Tegu they love baths! Ours do. They like to go poop in there as well, and give it a soft rinse!
