A red-tail will get about 6-8 feet long and be very thick-bodied. I saw your other post and if you're a beginner, this is not the snake you should get. You're basically looking for an "easy, starter large snake", of which none exist. You'll need to take baby steps into the world of snakes, and that first step is a corn snake. They are hardy enough that they won't die when you make mistakes (and I say that because you WILL make mistakes in your husbandry, and those mistakes would be fatal on any large constrictor like a red-tail boa) and still decent-sized. If you need more info about them just ask, I breed them and know quite a bit about their husbandry and behavior.
a columbian boa will range from 5-8ft... there are some boas such as BCC that will get larger and also some smaller subspecies...
IMHO, as long as you do the RESEARCH on PROPER care for the animal, a boa is a great starter snake... a boa was my first snake... They don't grow extremely fast so you have time to grow with them... They are pretty forgiving and fairly calm most of the time... But please, make sure you do the research on the animal... they do require certain temperatures and humidity... If the animal is too cold it will get sick, if it's too hot it will bake... same with little or too much humidity, too much or too little can make your snake sick with say, a RI...
But over all, boas are wonderful snakes and make great pets
Ball pythons are cool to for first time snake keepers. you can find them cheap as well and spend more money on better enclosure and products you will need. Balls go for like 40-60 bucks
True, but they go off feed periodically and can be hard to get back on. If youre willing to force feed a really picky eater, they're the best snake to get though. They have beautiful morphs, too.
