So last week or so I made this thread... http://www.tegutalk.com/threads/vet-has-different-opinion-on-tegu-care.17065/#post-153932
MY CARE INFO IS IN THE ABOVE LINK, good background information..

My tegu is still on towels, and thank god because he recently prolapsed again? He did it the day before but it didn't last very long at all, also wasn't as much. Because of that the next day I cut up his food very small- like marble like sizes. He ate two 16g reptilinks- one rabbit/f/v and one c/v, then some pumpkin puree. Today I put him in the tub to relieve himself and he prolapsed after passing normal stool, just towards the end. I'm really upset because I live a good 2 hours away from vets that know reptiles- at least ones where most of the staff is.. Where I live the reptile guy literally works like twice a week or something. I've already spent over 900 dollars at the vet the first time i happened, it got really bad because I was gone and he had prolapsed in his cage. He got sutures and all that and I literally had the last of them removed only thursday..
He is currently in sugar water.. I have KY jelly, gloves and Vaseline on hand, just in case. To be honest I am on the verge of crying because I don't know why this is happening? I thought it was parasites but he has been wormed, they did all kinds of tests and even did a comp. Xray because I had already been through so much..
I got most of my care info from here and tegu rescues, his basking temp is measured with a heat gun and is around 115 because he isn't an adult. He almost weighs 3 pounds..

Before he prolapsed this was a basic summary of his care.
Soil/sand substrate 70/30
Huge water bowl
gets a bath before getting to explore my room, monitored supervision
VARIED DIET, I feed him reptilinks, smelt, other meats and supplement anything that does not have bone. Blackberries are his favorite. He gets other fruits but he loves blackberries, also dubias
Almost everyday he gets outside time in the sun, at the very least 30 min.
Ambient temps, cooler end is low 80s and again surface temp on hot side is around 115 or so..
He has a flood light and compact UVB *which will be upgraded to vapor* and a red light for night time temps but could turn it on during day to raise temps if need be.

I'd appreciate any help/advice/tips, on his care and especially about the prolaspe. Anything is appreciated, I love him so much and I'm always paranoid of not doing enough...

Kiryu- I terribly sorry for this news. I do not know all the causes of prolapse and so I wonder if it can be genetic and regardless, if some forms can not be fixed permanently.

Ideally, you need a second opinion to make a sound decision. How is difficult because of logistics, still seems the best way through it for both of you.

Yeah, I ended up calling the vet. He hasn't been out of the water since it has happened, which I feel good about? Slightly? He is now in a tub in his cage to stay warm. He has a small towel in there so he isn't constantly sliding around and I put a small bowl in there that he can rest on if he needs it- took water out as well but still a good inch or so to totally cover his prolapse area.. The vet I spent most of my time with said all they have as options are either 1. Take him there for more diagnostics or 2. Take him to Davis. Now the problem is I've already done almost all the tests I can think of?? Like in my original post I've done blood work to show white blood count I believe, xray, fecal and just am so upset.. I really hope it goes back in overnight.. If not I'm going to be calling Davis to see if they can fit me in, I called their after hours and sadly they said the next two weeks are full..

Please keep posted and very best for you and your pal. No doubt he'll be in excellent care during the two-week wait.

Thanks for your comments, well in the morning it appeared to have went back in! I'm extremely thankful for that but my plan is to not feed him today and give him a small blended meal tomorrow earlier in the day. I had planned on that being one reptilink (I'll be opening it up) with added pumpkin, parsley and something else? What are good veggie/fruits for fiber? Or is that good enough?

You're timing is good. This time of year is when tegus hibernate. At the very least, his appetite will fade a good deal. Less opportunity for prolapse.

Yeah I guess so, but so far he hasn't hibernated with me yet, I've only had him since Easter though. I'm going to try and upload photos of him soon.

Thought I'd give you an update, since it has went back in it hasn't happened. I have been adding pumpkin to his reptilinks and also taking reptilinks out of the casing. So far so good. I will most likely wait till after Nov to give him his substrate back
