For the past week and a half my tegu has not eaten. He is up for about 30 minutes a day to walk around and warm up maybe, and then just goes to sleep. Is this normal behavior, because it is now getting pretty concerning considering how long it has been since he has eaten. An suggestions would be much apreciated :-D Thank you

Its is normal behavior for Argentine tegus to hibernate from August till march . and they stop feeding . since I live here in warm PA not lol I have to hibernate my GUs in my basement temperatures stay around 50-60 degrees . I keep the GUs in large bins filled with moist hay & leafs. and I check on them weekly till march when they awake.

Mine are starting to sleep more and eat less, but it's always good to post your husbandry (temps, lighting, and diet) to make sure there's not something else going on.

Temps. are around 100 to 105F on the basking side and 70 to 80F on the cool side, as for lighting I have a 160w Powersun light, and for diet, like I posted he hasn't eaten for about 11 days now, but before that he seemed to like ground turkey, ground beef, beef heart, a little of beef liver and some fruits like apples, cantaloupe, and bananas. Another thing I might mention is that this is an extreme giant that i got from bobby around July 13th, so he's still a little guy which is another reason why I'm very concerned.
