Outdoor enclosures?

Hi guys, I am getting I tegu pretty soon and I am about to start constructing the enclosure however I have seen alot of keepers with outdoor enclosures. I was just wondering if this is a must?
I would surley take my Tegu outside in the summer, however living on the 22nd floor in a block of flats I don't really have the option to build an outside enclosure thought the tegu itself will basiclly have it's own room. I am just wondering if it is a must or just something beneficial to my reptile thanks guys get back to me when you can!

It would be great if your tegu could get some sun ..Other wise he will be fine if you keep him inside .Make sure he gets plenty of UV light .. six feet by three by three seems to be the magic number. Bigger better or some [out time ]. Taking him out in the city may not be the best idea ..

Ahh okay well I am putting together an 8ft for him, so he will have a load of space to run around and be curious, the place where I would take him is a private green for the tenants of the flat only, so it would be away from the noise and pollution of the city and from other people. I ordered a twin uv control from amazon and have two 42inch uvb lights ready to cover the whole of it's enclosure so I don't think I should have a problem with that however I will try to get him out on a nice sunny day I do it for my beardies and they love it. Thanks for answering my question so fast with great information.

I wouldn`t put too much faith in those florescence lights .. not many watts .Get a UV bulb for your heat too 160 watts ..

Ahh okay I was going to go for 100watt for my heat bulbs due to the fixings I have for them, and due to the hieght of the enclosure but I will look into 150 as that is the max it can handle. These where the uv lights I was going to go for

Would you have a link or a name to a better solution?
thanks again

I think you have a grand set up !!But I don't think you will regret the bigger bulbs . I would put in the florescent lights also . Big enclosure. Your choice of bulbs but zoo med seams to be the standard over here

Yeah I have heard good things about them and I am getting a bit tired of
exo-terra so I will look into them, anyhow I am off now but thanks for all your help I really appreciate it. I will edit my enclosure plans for these changes.

May not hurt to build some kind of base into it so it doesn't sit directly on the floor . It looks way cool casters maybe ..

The majority of us here primarily house indoors...

Nice enclosure...

Thanks guys and it will have a bottom don't worry, my plans include making all the joints as strong as possible and waterproof. I was thinking around 6 inches of substrate possibly cypress mulch
