Need an Opinion On Buying a Tegu!

So pretty much all the hatchlings everywhere are sold out for the season!
But i did manage to find this ad: http://market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=115&de=943236 And they still have a few available. I can either buy one from them now, and spend a little more money than I wanted to, or I can wait until the next season to get one, and just work on building an enclosure for my tegu until then. I wanted to know what you guys think would be best? And around what time of year is breeding season for tegus/when do the tegus start hatching out again? I'd hate to wait almost another year to get one, but if it would be best and I could save a little more money doing that, I could make it through. What do you all think? Thanks for your opinions!

Thats for you to decide....its usialy summer time and i waited a yesr to have the encloser just rite until i got my tegu and i did the encloser so good i winded up buying a second tegu lol...is your encloser ready now too? You dont wanta buy off impulse and not be ready.

Yeah, I'm going to build a bigger enclosure that it can live in all its life. I've been thinking about this for a while, so its not off impulse. I'm just a little impatient, and needed to know when the tegus start hatching out again so I can make a decision. I'll probably end up waiting, so I can make the enclosure the best possible, and get the exact tegu I want! Who did you buy your tegus from?

Building an enclosure for a hatchling the size of one for an adult might be overwhelming for him... I would go 3ft first then 6-8 feet after a year or so...

Btw, whats the exact tegu u want??? Just wondering...

Yeah I have something small for it in the beginning! And I bet you'd rarely see the little guy in such a big cage haha. I just want a b/w argentine. I don't really wanna spend over $200 on purchasing the tegu itself.

Its only been about 2 weeks and I kouldnt wait! I'm debating on if I should go ahead and order that Blue too and have if for tomorrow! Hahaha!

May/June is when hatching season begins. You can get imports around Jan/Feb, but I think all those avenues are beginning to close.

Great news guys! I went to my local exotic pet store today, to get my snakes some feeders, and while I was browsing around, I came across three young red x b/w argentine tegus! $200! They are very healthy looking, and although I didn't have time to ask to hold one, or ask anymore about them, I think I'll go back sometime this weekend, ask some questions about them, examine one, and maybe put a deposit down! Then I can get my enclosure set up some more for it, and hopefully buy it next week! Hoping it'll work out, I'll keep you all updated. If it doesn't, I'll look into some more ads online. Sounds like a plan! Most argentine B&W are $150+ unless you are buying at an expo or from someone on TT. So if the thing at the petshop doesn't work out I would still look into the ones for sale on that link.

Ask plenty of questions, especially if they're really red x b/w crosses. They would have to be CBB so they should have a history on them.
