My Tegu Loves Fruit

I don't know if this is odd, but my tegu loves to eat fruit and some vegetables too.

My tegu really loves cantelope. He would eat it every day if he could and lots of it until his stomach hangs.

Is it odd that a tegu loves fruit?
And
Is it bad to feed him a lot of fruit or vegetable on a regular basis as long as it is in the approved regular foods list?

As long as it's varied, no, it's not bad. In some areas in the wild, there are tegus whose diet is made of up to 50% of fruit.

Just make sure it's varied so he doesn't become picky or dependent on one food item.

My tegus love fruit, too. Even my Colombians will eat the fruit before they eat their meat. Like Owl said, I offer a variety and add calcium since most fruit is low calcium and high phosphorous.
