I just got done dividing up my hare-today order and i barely made it through. Ill admit to a weak stomach but i thought 'hey its like ground turkey, how bad could it be?'...pretty bad and def not like ground turkey... Its gonna take a few times for me to handle it i think and i hope he doesnt like the quail because that almost put me over the edge lol. I still think its a good way to feed and ill order more in the future but *gag*..
I decided to cut the meat into slices and lay it on wax paper and just stack it like that on layers of wax paper then put it in the freezer and once its frozen ill put the slices into gallon freezer bags and just pull out a slice or two as needed.
All i know is im glad its over...

I got their ground turkey and rabbit. Never dealt with ground turkey before, but the rabbit was much easier to handle. The turkey was very mushy. I handled it, but I will agree that it was stomach turning. I too am not a fan of that stuff lol. I hope my gu likes rabbit better so I can stick to more of that hahah

Instead of completely thawing meat for portions (or anytime you have to cut it) leave it slightly frozen. It's much easier to work with that way and not as messy, mushy or greasy.

Yeah i def think ill leave it partially frozen next time. It was quite mushy and disgusting. The quail is just grey and awful looking but i agree that the rabbit wasnt too bad though the um juices were kinda gross.
I also think ill be ok with feeding f/t mice/rats as ive already fed him some pinkies and that doesnt really bother me. Ive gotten over alot of my issues with dif 'gross' things as far as feedings from the pets ive had but just thinkin about the quail makes me a lil nauseous lol.
The smell wasnt bad really but combined with the look/texture of the stuff i had to have my husband put a fan behind me to blow the smell away from me so i wouldnt gag so much lol

Reminds me of when I blended up some liver to mix with turkey.... Blended liver is disgusting and I nearly puked. lol The things we do for our animals.

Also, I wish I could order things from Hare Today. ): So jelly.

'The things we do for our animals' LOL.. i say that all the time! I do have some good news though, he loved the rabbit so im happy i at least know my discomfort was worth it. Yesterday was the first time hes had any of the hare-today stuff and after a couple tongue flicks he was all over it =) ..still has a big fat belly today so im gonna wait to try another kind.
