Looking to rehome tame b/w Argentinian Tegu

I have a beautiful black and white Argentinian Tegu named Nails who is in need of a good home with an experienced owner. I live in Ontario Canada. Nails is between 3-4 feet long and is about 3 1/2 years of age. He is very docile and is used to a home with children. He would make a wonderful pet for someone who has experience with tegus. He is very much a member of our family and we are heartbroken to have to rehome him, so I am very interested in making sure that anyone interested would provide a good long term home to him. He comes with his favourite pillow and I can provide a heating lamp if needed. We have always used a dog fence as his room so he does not come with a cage as he has never used one. We are asking $300.00 for him.........our biggest concern is that he goes to a good home, so please only respond if you are really interested.
Thank You!

I have to find a home for him because my mother in law is making my life miserable over him. She refuses to believe that he could be a beautiful animal and instead sees him as something like a crocodile or dinasaur.....it would be funny except that my neice and nephew are no longer allowed to visit my house, and she is driving me crazy about it...even threatening to call childrens aid because I have a wild animal....last week she swore if I didnt get rid of him she would poison him herself to get rid of him. I half afraid she is serious, but mostly I am just tired of arguing with my husbands family over him. I finally promised that if I can find a good home for him I would. I am willing to be flexible about the price, but it is more important to me that he go to a good home. He has been babied and even has his own special pillow that he sleeps with. He is used to having a backyard to roam around in the summer and is quite spoiled...lol. I think he thinks he is one of the cats at times. I don't want to fight with my family, but he is also a member of our family in a sense and I will keep him until I find someone who will treat him like the beautiful animal he is. Thats it in a nutshell, though I could expand. If I can figure out how to download a pic of him on here I will.

I doubt getting rid of the tegu will solve the problem .... You need to stop being the victim and make the hag howl ...

I agree. If you get rid of your baby then she will just see that she can control and threaten you into doing what she wants.

I agree with Montana! Letting go of YOUR Tegu to satisfy her is wrong. You will live to regret it because she will just find something else to hack on you about. Not to mention, do you and your spouse intend to have children? If so are you going to let her rule your life then too? Tell you how to raise your children? What if she decides she doesn't like one of your children? You gonna have to get rid of your child to satisfy her?
Why don't you make the easier decision now and tell her how it's gonna be in your home? Save yourself greater discomfort later concerning much bigger issues.
One final question, where is your spouse on this? I would choose my Tegu if I were you.

We already have children - 2 boys 7 and 10, and our 7 year old is quite attached to nails (our tegu) It is because of the kids that she is driving us nuts.....she is having dreams apparently that Nails eats the kids...lol. My husband thinks it is rediculous, but he is not as attached to Nails as I am. That is part of why I am giving in and trying to rehome him also. I had to promise that I would keep the kids away from Nails, but he is only getting attention from me right now and it is not enough - he needs a home with lots of attention. Yes, I am angry and heartbroken about it and I agree with much of what you have said, but I want to be able to have my neice and nephew visit and bring back peace to my family. Thank You for the kind words...they mean a lot!!

i agree my mother wont visit me because of my snakes and tegus. they are "dangerous" and "scary". but how many times do you see reptiles killing owners on the news? and how many times do you hear about dogs attacking people on the news? a lot more! and i understand there is a higher ratio in the pet world of dogs:reptiles but myy animals are my animals, i am really sorry and i completely understand where you are coming from (family does have to come first) i wish i could help you and nails out, but my inn is full. :( best of luck! who knows maybe she will calm down? i am hoping for you at least.
