Lighting for 6x2x3' tank?

I have a 6x2x3 foot tank (with a solid top) and i know i need a uva/uvb heat basking lamp. I was thinking I'll probably need a red heat bulb for the night as well.

I don't want to get too much or too little light/heating in there and was wondering how would you recommend setting up the lighting/heating for a tank this size? Like how many of each bulb id need.

The coldest the room ever gets is 62 and that's at night in the winter, although i can always make the house itself a little warmer if necessary by 10 degrees or so then.

I would say a 125w mvb should be plenty. And maybe use a tube style uvb for the cool side for additional uvb and light. You probably won't need any night heat.

Thank you!
So even if the room gets down to 60 it's alright for the lizard at night? I know Tegu's are more cold tolerant than other lizards, but I just want to be sure he won't get too cold.

If it is only getting that cold in the winter, chances are he will be hibernating and it won't bother him one bit. Even if he isn't hibernating he will be fine.

Also, I'm starting him out in a 20g long tank, would I be able to use that same bulb for that since he won't be living in a tank that small for long at all.

It is possible, but you will have to be able to move the bulb away from the enclosure if necessary.
