Lighting Clarification

I run the risk of asking a stupid question, but I can put a Reptisun 10.0 in any old ultraviolet fixture, right? That is, it doesn't have to be one specifically for reptile UVB bulbs and could be from Home Depot or whatever. I'd like to know, as the time for cage construction is swiftly approaching.

Although some are built better than others, you definitely can use any fixture. It does not have to be a reptile specific fixture. I have used them for years with no issues. I do not buy the "contractors specials" though. Usually it's something of decent quality.

I buy the low end kitchen fixture models from home depot and they work great for my smaller tanks. I use wire hanger to fashion a fastener and hang them inside the enclosure to get past the screen barrier and to get them close enough to actually make a difference.
