Leaving the red light on for 24/7

I have a friend who told me he leaves his red light on 24/7 for his tegu is this necessary??

I've heard/read that the red lights aren't good for their eyes. The same way it would be if a human tried to live in a dark room with the red light all the time. I would go with a ceramic heat emitter

Leighanna is correct. Go with ceramic. They last a lot longer too.
