Keeping the heat up?

I'm just curious to know how everyone keeps their tegu's basking spot up high. Do you use ceramic heat emitters or maybe halogen bulbs? I'm considering investing in the prior because it's getting too cold to use regular bulbs. I'm a bit worried about roasting my boy, though... he's in a 40G tank.

I have a big enclosure so I use a 160w mvb with an auxiliary 50w halogen flood side by side with two deep dome lamps. It keeps one side of the basking spot about 95 or a little higher and the other side about 105-110. I use 2 night time 50w spot bulbs spread out over the cool side 24hrs a day and the cool side stays about 75 during the day and about 70 at night.

a 40 gallon a 100 watt flood light should do the trick. Make sure to watch it for the first few hours to make sure that the tank isn't too warm. I have two 100 watt bulbs on my caiman lizard right now an I get one basking spot up to 130 that way but that's on a branch about 8" off the ground.
