So my little hatchling just came in the mail today. I am very excited. He's very docile, just hanging out basking in a sunny spot on my bed right now. I want to know can anyone give me an opinion on my enclosure I set up for him? I'm going to attempt to post a picture. It's a 50gal tub about 3 1/2 feet by 2 feet. The warm side is about 92, and cool side is about 80. Humidity is around 75%. one bulb is a UVB and the other is just a regular reptile heating bulb. Brand new at this any help would be greatly appreciated!!

You may have some trouble keeping humidity up with an open top like that, but depending on where you live you may not. I would also put A LOT more stuff in there to keep your little guy occupied. Tegus are extremely intelligent and need lots of stimulation so they don't get bored. Boredom leads to destructive behaviors. Maybe add some more hides, tubes for him to climb through, branches for him to climb on. Stuff like that

Congrats. Very nice looking. Habitat enrichment a good idea. Also, depending on nightime temps in the home you might consider turning off lights to give him darknes AND mid-upper 70s temp for relief.

I was going to buy a humidifier to put next to it. any suggestions? oh and i have been turning the lights off at night. thanks again for the responses!

You could create a humid hide! Just purchase a large plastic container, like for storing food in the fridge, and cut a hole in the side of it. Add substrate that's holds humidity well, such as damp Eco earth and moss, and the inside of the container should reach around 70%-80% humidity and stay there most of the time. You may need to get the Eco earth damp again every few days, but your tegu will be able to choose when he wants to be in high or low humidity. And he'll probably dig in it, which will give him something to do.
