I want to create a "natural" enclosure. Need help!

Hello everyone!

I want to re-do my tegu's enclosure with real plants and great soil mixture for digging.

My enclosure is 48" x 20" X 20", with a custom made top that has metal vents.

My gu' is about 8 months old also. I was wondering if you guys could inform me on what kind of soil mix, plants and any other information regarding a "natural" enclosure.

I don't have an answer for your questions, but have some advice. Don't waste your time with live plants, your tegu will just dig them up and trample them. Also he is going to more than likely outgrow that enclosure this summer, so unless you are going to use it for something else with the same environment conditions it will be a waste of time IMO.

My advice, don't waste your time working on this 4' enclosure...

At 8 months old your Tegu is going into his second summer which is a well documented point of growth explosion. He is going to more than double in size in the next 6 months and you need to be focused on an enclosure that will be suitable for him in these months to come.

Thanks a lot guys, I'll take your advice. I am new to this so thanks for the heads up! I was wondering when he was going to get a growth spirt!
